When Joyce Rogers made her bold request to be excluded from the investigation, based upon her word and the word of Paul Williams, she was acting out the part of Pharisees of Jesus' days. Instead of sitting quietly like everyone else and waiting to see the outcome of the investigative committee, she leaps up in defense of her husband's integrity. How hypocritical!
Does this hypocrisy spring from grace and godliness? No, it springs from a corrupted base. A base of unwholesome and unsound words and a doctrine not according to godliness. I Timothy 6:3 and II Tim 1:13
Behind ever great man is a great woman. Dr Rogers was her man. She fed him. She massaged his ego. She made him into the man he was. He had her to thank. Together they constructed an island no one else could live on. When the world was crumbling all around her she asserted her citizenship on their exclusive island. It was a Pelagian island. An island where the best of mankind forges a life of self-discipline and perfectionism, unattainable to common mainlanders.
When it came to common realities of life her man was naive to these realities and hired men handled these hard realities for him. He remained distant to church problems. This attitude did not spring from grace and godliness but from self-determination.
Matthew 23:1-15 (KJV)
Then spake Jesus to the multitude, and to his disciples,
Saying The scribes and the Pharisees sit in Moses' seat:
All therefore whatsoever they bid you observe, that observe and do; but do not ye after their works: for they say, and do not.
For they bind heavy burdens and grievous to be borne, and lay them on men's shoulders; but they themselves will not move them with one of their fingers.
But all their works they do for to be seen of men: they make broad their phylacteries, and enlarge the borders of their garments,
And love the uppermost rooms at feasts, and the chief seats in the synagogues,
And greetings in the markets, and to be called of men, Rabbi, Rabbi.
But be not ye called Rabbi: for one is your Master, even Christ; and all ye are brethren.
And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven.
Neither be ye called masters: for one is your Master, even Christ.
But he that is greatest among you shall be your servant.
And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased; and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted.
But woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye shut up the kingdom of heaven against men: for ye neither go in yourselves, neither suffer ye them that are entering to go in.
Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye devour widows' houses, and for a pretence make long prayer: therefore ye shall receive the greater damnation.
Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye compass sea and land to make one proselyte, and when he is made, ye make him twofold more the child of hell than yourselves.

Well, it's been months since I've visited this freak show. But it is evident nothing has changed here...
does it feels good for you to beat up on a widow? You aren't satisfied enough to show your cowardice to just beat up on her dead husband? Now you want to beat on her. You are beneath contempt. You are a coward.
You go ahead and sit in Moses seat. And sit in God's too, and watch what happens...Where do you even have the right?
oc
glad to have you drop by and comment.
Charles
Oh, what I meant was, you are welcome for the instruction. Since you are not getting it, just know that when you sit in judgment, you are sitting in a very dangerous place.
whew, thanks for the clarrification, oc, you had me scared to death.
Thanks, i feel better
Charles
And therefore the instruction goes again unheeded, to the detriment of the uncooperative, less than humble intended recipient. Proverbs again wasted.
oc.
"Play God, and He will hunt you down to prove you are not."
Now play close attention, oc. Who is playing God here? You not me. You are demanding me to stop. I have not placed any demands upon you. The reason: I am a Calvinist, I don't make demands of you God does. God gives us the mind to do what we do. I am doing what God directs me to do. I am not playing God. God is playing me.
oc, who is playing you? If you reject Calvinism then you are exercising free will to do what you want to do. You are doing things according to what oc thinks is best and according to oc's emotions. Your emotions tell you that you do not like me so you act accordingly. You respond from your heart and not your brain. Either way you loose.
I respond from the Spirit. I am filled with the Spirit and the Spirit and Word agree. That is my confidence. I cannot afford to trust in the flesh, brain nor heart.
I am doing what God directs me to do.
You're listening to the voices in your head again, Charles. It's not of God.
...and you are ready to stand before the Lord with that conclusion.
Remember, eternity is a long time!
I am speaking boldly for myself. The Bible encourages me to be filled with the Spirit and where the Lord commands he provides. That is my confidence.
But your confidence is in the fact that YOU KNOW that it is the voices in my head and it is not of God. That is too bold for me to say that about you!
No way I would attempt to stand before God with that. I don't have to give accout before the Lord for you! only me.
No sir, you are trying to be God. You are trying to resurrect two dead men. You are trying to resurrect Calvin in an attempt to glorify him, and that for your own selfish purposes, even to the point of worshipping him; and then on the other hand you are trying to resurrect Rogers in an attempt to denigrate him, and all this just to try to prove your opinion right.
But should either one attain glory or condemnation is none of your business. You have neither the power nor right nor any of His righteous attributes in perfection which would thereby qualify you to have the "boldness" to usurp the sovereignty of the Almighty Holy One and so make you a decider of the fate of either one the dead men. So quit trying to be God to prove yourself right.
Instead, trust in the One who died yet lives again to be the Judge and is able to raise to life those whom He will. He will make all things right, by His plan. Not yours.
Just sayin'.
oc.
